Food banks are continuing to face increased demand for food assistance. In fact, Feeding America®, with its more than 200 affiliates across the country, projects that 42 million people (1 in 8), including 13 million children (1 in 6), may experience food insecurity in 2021.
Milk is often one of the most-requested yet least-donated items at local food banks.
Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and our regional dairy brands are stepping up to help provide much-needed nourishment for families in need with the donation of 2.2 million containers of The Giving Cow™ milk!
This specially designed, shelf-stable package provides a full 8oz serving of delicious and nutritious 2% reduced fat milk. Our goal is to deliver The Giving Cow™ milk units to food banks across the country, in markets where the demand is high and where our shoppers can make the most impact to their communities.
Starting in November, all gallons and half-gallon labels for the regional brands below will feature a unique QR code, encouraging shoppers to learn more. This QR code leads directly to a regional brand website where they can easily sign-up to receive text messages from The Giving Cow™ program. These messages will provide updates on where and how their favorite regional dairy brand is giving back to their own community.
When shoppers grab the gallon that gives this holiday season, they will also be joining our efforts to fight hunger right in their own backyards.
